TOMMY LEE's Reality Show Leads To Interest In University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus
September 14, 2005The Associated Press has issued the following report:
The Tommy Lee reality television show filmed on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus had the potential to do harm, the school's chancellor said Tuesday. That hasn't happened, UNL chancellor Harvey Perlman told the school's Academic Senate.
At least anecdotally, the six-episode, quasi-reality show starring the MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer has created a buzz about the university, Perlman said.
The day after the first two episodes aired in August, UNL's Tommy Lee web site logged 7,000 hits, Perlman said.
It had been attracting about 1,000 a day.
Also on the day after the show's premiere, 200 people added their names to the university's mailing list when the daily average is usually about 30, Perlman said.
However, it's too early to translate that buzz into an enrollment increase, the chancellor said.
The final episode of "Tommy Lee Goes to College" will air Tuesday night.
